We had the February Technical Meeting on February 27, 2020 with 15 people in attendance.
Fran Sehn presented on “Risk Management for the Safety Professional – Reducing risk is the key to injury prevention!”.
We had the President and Vice President of the Slippery Rock University Student Chapter, Damon Morris and Nick Ravotti. It was good to see them at the meeting and talk with them.
The Chapter Executive Committee is accepting volunteers to be on the Planning Committee for monthly meetings and tours. There will be a Coordinator and committee members responsible to plan and coordinate the monthly technical meetings or tours and dinners. The chapter is in need of members for the 2020 Regional PDC Planning Committee. There are many opportunities to volunteer on the committee in areas assisting with organizing the event, vetting Speakers, arranging for catering, acquiring vendors and sponsors, managing the CEU process, tracking registration, day of event activities, to name a few. The planning meetings are via conference call on a monthly basis for about 30 minutes each, then assisting with the event on the day of the event.

The 2019 Western PA ASSP Regional Professional Development Conference was a success due to the hard work of the PDC Planning Committee chaired by Tracey Cekada. There were 164 people registered with 99 Professionals and 65 Students. We had 16 Vendors and 8 Sponsors. Thank you to the Sponsors and Vendors. The PDC allows for Professionals and Students to network and learn together, locally. Thank you to Indiana University of PA (IUP) for hosting the PDC. Thank you to the Keynote Speakers and Session speakers for providing timely information and a good opportunity to learn!
The PDC will be at Slippery Rock University in 2020. Stay tuned for more information.
The October Tour and Dinner meeting consisted of a tour of the SRU Strain Safety Building at Slippery Rock University on Thursday, October 17, 2019 hosted by the SRU Student Chapter of ASSP WPA. Dinner followed.
There were 33 people attending the Tour and Dinner which breaks down to 12 Professionals and 21 Students. Thank you to the SRU Student Chapter for hosting this event!
