Two Chapter Members Published in October ASSP Professional Safety
Congratulations to Bryan Seal, Ph.D., CSP, CIH, REHS, assistant professor of safety sciences at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) and Christopher Janicak, Ph.D., CSP, CEA, CFPS, ARM, professor of safety sciences in IUP’s Department of Safety Sciences. They had a peer-reviewed article titled “OSHA’s Enforcement of Silica Standards in the Construction Industry,” in the October 2022 issue of Professional Safety.
October Technical Tour at IUP Summary
The October Technical Tour of the IUP Cogeneration Plant had 11 participants of which there were four (4) students and seven (7) professionals (including the hosts). There were other students and faculty members who stopped by for a few minutes to catch up and network.
The tour was guided by faculty member Sean Kirkpatrick and organized by Dr. Majed Zreiqat, IUP Professor and Student Section Advisor, and hosted by the IUP Student Section. Chris Sarracino, Chapter Vice President worked with all parties to plan the event. Thank you all for this opportunity to tour the IUP cogeneration plant!

September SRU Student Section Meeting and Tour
The September Meeting hosted by the SRU Student Section on September 19, 2022, was attended by 28 students and 16 Professionals. The speaker was the President of ASSP, Christine Sullivan. She spoke on the ASSP and workers compensation insurance. Thank you to Cindy Medford for organizing the meeting. The Student Section student leaders assisted with the registration. There was a tour of the Strain Safety Building and labs before the meeting conducted by Professors Mike Adamcyk, Angela Bernardo, and Joe Losko.
