The Western PA Chapter of ASSP offers a scholarship program for students who have shown a career interest in a safety or safety-related degree program. The Chapter also offers a grant program for members who are looking to pursue a professional certification (Examples: CSP, CIH, CHST, etc.) or who are seeking funding to attend a professional development event such as regional or national safety conference or continuing education. The application period is January 01 – March 01 each year with selection no later than April 01.

The December Holiday Lunch and Networking event was conducted as an in-person event on December 17, 2021, at Hofbrauhaus Pittsburgh hosted by the Chapter Executive Committee. We had a buffet lunch and a lot of time to talk with people we haven’t been with for a long while. There was also a drawing for many door prizes provided by many of the Professionals and their employers.

We had a total of thirty-eight (38) people in attendance of which were 10 Students from the Slippery Rock University Student section along with Cindy Medford, their Advisor.

The April Technical Meeting was conducted as a live virtual lunchtime meeting on April 08, 2021. The Speaker was Mr. Chris Eastly CSP, HUB International. The Presentation was “Fleet Safety and Driver Qualifications”. There were twenty-nine (29) people that participated. We had 44 people register for the virtual meeting.
