Meet at the Safety Sciences Department, Johnson Hall 1010 Oakland Ave, Indiana, PA 15705 for Lunch/Networking from 12:00p – 1:00p, then start the tour at 1:00pm lasting about 1 hour.
Topic: Tour the IUP Co-Generation Plant – The S.W. Jack Cogeneration Plant is a combined cycle power plant that converts fossil fuels into usable electric and thermal energies for use at the Indiana Campus. Cogeneration is a name given to the process of producing two or more forms of energy from one source of fuel. The S. W. Jack Cogeneration Plant produces electric, steam, and hot water from the fuel sources of natural gas and a small amount of diesel fuel. The cogeneration process enables users to reach much higher energy efficiencies than traditional power producing plants.
