April Technical Tour Summary

The April Technical Tour was conducted on Friday, April 29, 2022, as an in-person tour of the project area at PGH International Airport Terminal Modernization Program (TMP) project. The tour was hosted by Jason Timmerman CSP, VP of Environmental and Workplace Safety at Allegheny County Airport Authority and the onsite project Safety Professionals. We started with a safety briefing and a project overview in the Safety Training facility on the outer perimeter of the jobsite then transported to the jobsite by bus to disembark, into groups of about 5-8 people per project Safety Professional turned tour guide, then were led through and around the jobsite explaining the project in its current phase, various safety issues and how they are addressed explaining the expectations placed on the various contractors and subcontractors to provide a safe jobsite that exceeds just regulatory requirements. The total tour event lasted about two and one-half hours.

We had a total of 32 participants which included 16 Professionals and 17 students of which there were 3 students from IUP and 14 from SRU. There approximately 6 onsite project Safety Professionals that were actively involved as well.

THANK YOU! To Jason Timmerman and the onsite project Safety Professionals for hosting this tour and providing an enjoyable opportunity to learn specifically about the PGH International Airport Terminal Modernization Program (TMP) project and the application of worker safety principles along with the establishing of a project culture that values worker safety.
